Hong Kong’s Michelin Starred Restaurant Kam’s Roast is Finally Here in Malaysia!

KUALA LUMPUR, 30 SEPTEMBER 2020 -  Epicureans, rejoice! The newly minted Kam’s Roast outlet at Pavilion KL will be opening doors starting 8th October 2020. The flagship outlet in Hong Kong was awarded the Michelin Star from 2015 to 2020 in the editions of MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong & Macau. The brand is a household name in Hong Kong, renowned for its roast meats.

With careful supervision from the original roster of Hong Kong chefs, Kam’s Roast Malaysia will achieve the same quality and standards expected of the dishes. Signature dishes such as the Roast Duck will have you rubbing your hands with glee.

Another must-try is the ‘Toro’ Char Siu, which is made with premium pork belly. The secret recipe is by Mr Kinsen Kam Kwan Sing, who was the second-generation owner at the famed Yung Kee. The pork is seasoned with Kam family’s award-winning marinade. The slab of meat is barbequed and boasts a melt-in-your-mouth texture and just the right amount of char for that smoky flavour. Each slice of char siu has the perfect balance of lean meat and fat, with the burnt bits adding a delightful crunch.

When at Kam’s Roast, you must also savour the legendary Wonton Noodles that Mr Kinsen Kam Kwan Sing served in Yung Kee. Al dente with a firm bite, the noodles are absolute freshness guaranteed. The noodles are accompanied with fresh, handmade goldfish-shaped wontons encasing premium prawn and pork fillings. The pastry skin is silky soft. Rounding out the dish are slices of Kam’s famous roasts.

Cap off the dining experience with Kam’s Red Bean Soup with Aged Orange Peel. The slightly sweet nutritious dessert is made with top-grade red beans and Chen Pi (aged orange peel). Brimming with vitamin C, the Chen Pi are aged for decades, and with time they become more potent in aroma and taste.

Honouring a Legacy
The year 1942 saw the inception of Yung Kee Restaurant, which later became a successful and internationally acclaimed restaurant. The founders’ self-motivation and hardworking attitudes were their recipe for rapid and outstanding success in the culinary world.

Mr Hardy Kam, grandson of Mr Kam Shui Fai, set up Kam’s Roast Goose in 2014. Within six months of opening, the restaurant earned a Michelin star. Mr Hardy Kam chose to keep his 36-seater stall small as a tribute to his grandfather and father, whose business began as a humble entity.
