Sustainable Work Culture is achieved collectively.

At BRANDTHINK we have been thinking and working around building a sustainable work culture for some time. As a company, we see what the perceptions are about marketing agencies. We decided that's not how we want to operate.

Sustainable Work Culture, as we call it, needs to be achieved collectively. It comes as a symbiosis of three key pillars:

The Organisation.

The Stakeholders.

The Individual.

The organisation.

We need to redesign, reshape and rethink behaviours, systems, and practices and how that aids in achieving a Sustainable Work Culture. It needs to be guided by an overarching set of values. We've been working on this for over a year, adjusting and reframing every progress we can get.

The Stakeholders.

As parties outside of the organisation, shaping stakeholders is often tricky as they are not within our sphere of control. For this, we have to communicate our values consistently and goes as far as renegotiating the terms of engagement, the idea that we are not always available urgently, immediately and 24/7. 

We need to align on the fact that a sustainable working culture produces far superior results.

The Individual.

Finally, for the individual team member, there's a need for action. We will need to learn the technical skills required to complete tasks more effectively. We need to learn negotiation skills to rework challenging scope and timelines. We need to learn problem-solving skills to overcome hurdles and roadblocks. We need to learn how to see the big picture, discern what is essential and what is not, and self-awareness to know when we can push ourselves and when we must rest.

Progress in any one of these pillars would be impactful, but a lasting one requires progress on all fronts.

Let us be straight: Talk is cheap. And we, as a company, still have much more to achieve on this front. But what we are after is progress, and every 1% progress towards this is a step in the right direction. But we need to do this together.
